Universe is the world's first website builder designed for mobile phones. Our mission is to empower everyone to build the internet, starting with serious websites built in under a minute.
We're looking for a Lead iOS Engineer to help accelerate our mission. As a Lead iOS Engineer your primary focus will be leading our small but excellent team of iOS Engineers while also writing excellent code. As a Lead you will help ensure iOS work runs smoothly, help turn requirements into project plans, break down projects into tasks with your team, and maintain code quality through code reviews. You will work with other senior engineers to help refine our app's architecture and build out reusable systems so we can iterate faster. You will expand our codebase to scale across iPhone, iPad, and even Macs.
As a Lead you will also take on tasks throughout the stack. You will contribute code to expand the editor: adding new block types, more complex layouts, and more customizations for each block. You'll help build tools that are easy for everyone to understand, so that buying a domain, setting up metadata, and adding pages are super simple. Together we will create new audience tools to help creators analyze and connect with their site's viewers. You will write tests, refactor existing code to support tests, and improve reliability of the app.
Universe is built native, taking advantage of the many frameworks Apple gives us. It is built entirely with Swift. Our app talks to CloudKit as well as our own APIs (some written in Swift too 😉). We use programatic autolayout for the majority of our UI. We do believe in Tests, but we don't have enough yet.
