Hi there! My name is Xavier Armand and I am the co-founder of Vaan Group (www.vaangroup.com). We believe outstanding design and powerful technology are at the heart of the world's best brands. We're the team that delivers unquestionable results. The agency has experienced incredible growth over the last year, raised a highly strategic funding round, and we're now seeking an experienced Director of Business Development who can tell our story, convey our work, and close deals to help us scale the agency.

To level set, We don’t chase, we attract.

This means, our sales process is based on awareness, authentic relationships, and demonstration of competency not cold calls and ground and pound lead gen.

You will attract and acquire new clients and accounts. You will establish our end-to-end sales funnel and the strategy to activate the TVG flywheel.

What we're looking for

  • Charisma. You’ll be the first point of contact for new business. We care deeply about every lead. 
  • You’re a good hype-person. If you don’t know what that is, check this out. We’re looking for someone who knows how to build people up. Sometimes this means building up our creative director (for a branding project), other times this means building up our engineers (for a technical project), it always means hyping up the team. 
  • You love to meet new people. You don’t mind taking a 30 minute intro Zoom call with a loose agenda. We believe in forming as many connections as possible, one by one. Seeds planted today sow fruits years later sometimes. Bonus points for being vaccinated so that you can meet with people IRL. 
  • You know good design when you see it. 
  • Advanced understanding of and experience with e-commerce technology stacks (pros, cons, trends). You have opinions on the matter.
  • A proven track record of successfully developing leads into clients or customers 
  • Externally excitable. You’ll often be the first impression of the agency to prospective clients. We love the work. That comes off when we talk about it.
  • Experienced, relationship builder and manager 
  • You have a personal brand. You should be active on Twitter, LinkedIn and/or have a blog.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Finding and implementing creative, unconventional, and cost-efficient channels to build customer base and grow business - could involve in-app growth hacks, attending events, private Slack groups, masterminds, and more 
  • Assessing and qualifying leads. Determining who to bring on for next phase of pitch (i.e creative director for branding pitch or product director for technical pitch) 
  • Collaborating on marketing strategies that may involve content marketing, building channel strategies, experimenting with different growth methods 
  • Identify channels to test and work with in-house marketing manager to manage and execute 
  • Working closely with CEO and CD to craft and refine sales strategies, services, pitches, and materials 
  • Creating growth strategies, experiment, and use data to test 
  • Tracking new markets, new tech and emerging trends that the agency can explore 
  • Proposing and developing new strategic partnerships for the agency 
  • Collaborating with other internal team members on creating proposals for leads 
  • Presenting business or marketing opportunities to agency leadership team 
  • Manage and groom the company’s CRM
