  • Posted : one year ago

Thinkific is a software platform that gives anyone, anywhere the ability to easily create, market, and sell their own online courses. We believe in impactful and innovative work: our team of 400+ Thinkers is building and expanding an incredible product that empowers creators around the globe while working collaboratively to learn, grow, and succeed together. Join us to see how we’re building one of the best workplaces in Canadian tech!

We believe every candidate should have a fair, inclusive, and overall great experience when exploring a new role with Thinkific. That starts with outlining our hiring process so you know what to expect every step of the way.

Are you excited to flex your technical knowledge and lead paid search strategy to directly impact our company’s growth? We’re looking for a Search Engine Marketing Strategist to join us at Thinkific.

As a Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Strategist you’ll lead the strategy and direction of Thinkific’s paid search channels. This role will allow you to work in-platform, optimizing paid search channels with extensive monthly budgets. Reporting to the Director, Paid Advertising, and working alongside our Digital Advertising Strategist, you’ll share insights and find opportunities to scale paid search across the customer journey. This role has a high level of ownership, but you’ll also get to collaborate with various teams to test messages, audiences, keywords, content, and landing page experiences to improve conversion rates and efficiencies.

Your goal will be to improve overall paid advertising ROI by conducting audits, experiments, and identifying process improvements for SEM. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
  • Be 100% hands-on and own all SEM campaigns (evergreen and promotional) at Thinkific, across Google and Microsoft Search, Performance Max, YouTube, and Display.
  • Lead the SEM strategy, execution, and reporting—communicating key wins and opportunities to the internal team in weekly meetings, as they relate to business goals.
  • Audit SEM campaigns and present recommendations on areas including account structure, targeting, keyword opportunities, bid strategies, ad creative, etc.
  • Own the budget pacing and flag opportunities to scale reach (while maintaining efficient cost-per-acquisition).
  • Leverage data modelling to maximize the effectiveness of SEM campaigns.
  • Work towards constant improvement of cost-per-acquisition, quality score, and performance by recommending and conducting relevant A/B tests and optimizing ad copy
  • Lead current agency partnerships with Google and Microsoft, looking for opportunities to grow the relationships, considering betas and opportunities to test, and following up on discussed action items.

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Has 5+ years of hands-on SEM experience across Google and Microsoft Search, both in strategy and execution. They can ideate, then roll up their sleeves and work in-platform.
  • Possesses hands-on experience leading SEM accounts within the SaaS industry (whether agency or in-house).
  • Deeply understands key SaaS metrics and has a proven track record of driving SEM results.
  • Is comfortable with SEM tools—they’ll use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, along with keyword and competitive analysis tools, such as SEMRush and Moz.
  • Knows how to dive deep into data, identifying trends opportunities to improve acquisition efficiencies and increase growth.
  • Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • Agency experience leading SEM accounts
  • Familiarity with other SEM Platforms such as SA360.
  • Experience with Data tools such as Mixpanel and Looker.

This is just our initial idea of who we’re looking for! At Thinkific, we know that people have unique career journeys. If your experience is close to what we’ve described but you feel that you might be missing a few of the requirements, please still apply! We’re also committed to providing a comfortable and accessible interview process for every candidate. If there are any accommodations our team can make throughout our hiring process (big or small), please let us know.
