This position serves as the enterprise-wide creative thought leader on voice, messaging, copy and content for the HIMSS global brand. It is responsible for ensuring alignment of HIMSS's external and internal messaging with its organizational strategy, brand, vision and mission in order to increase awareness, engagement and membership within the global health ecosystem. This position manages the Marketing Writing and Content team, which is responsible for ensuring consistency and cohesion in messaging, copy and content across all HIMSS platforms, key projects and initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Create external and internal messaging, copy and content that reflect the HIMSS global brand and voice, and position HIMSS as a global advisor, thought leader and member-driven society. Ensure that all audiences, including individual and corporate members, vendors, government, domestic and global consumers, and HIMSS staff, understand the value, direction and thought leadership of the organization.
  • Collaborate with President & CEO, Executive Leadership team, Marketing team, Creative Services team, Thought Advisory team, and other stakeholders on messaging, copy and content strategy for HIMSS and HIMSS-related brands. Guide the creation of consistent, high-quality marketing and communications across the global organization.
  • Direct, manage and provide brand voice and messaging/copy/content guidance to Marketing Writing and Content Team (direct reports listed below), and to other internal teams and stakeholders, including international. Create, maintain and enforce brand voice/writing guidelines and best practices to maintain consistency and increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Senior Director of Strategic Communications to create and direct the President & CEO's marketing and communications, including correspondence, blogs, articles, presentations, speeches, scripts and talking points.
  • Direct brand voice/writing guidelines and internal marketing and communications program, with Copy and Content Writer.
  • Direct development and oversight of digital content strategy, with Thought Advisory team and Senior Manager, Digital Marketing.
  • Direct and manage contracted scriptwriters for the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition and other events/initiatives as needed.
  • Create and manage Marketing Writing and Content Team processes to streamline workflows and ensure stakeholder satisfaction. Manage team with large workload and rapid deadlines, providing strategic, high-quality, consistent, on-time deliverables.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of marketing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in brand voice, messaging, copywriting, and marketing techniques and trends.
  • Excellent creative and strategic writing, marketing and communications, and interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assess and recommend tactics and programs to reach business objectives and strategies.
  • Ability to translate data and other information into actionable messages that resonate with specific targeted audiences.
  • Self-starter with strong prioritization skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrable computer skills: Microsoft platform; Wrike skills a plus.
  • Association or healthcare experience, advertising agency background is a plus.
