Remote Job

Senior Product Designer

Resource Guru
  • $100.000 - $120.000
  • fullTime
  • Posted : one year ago

đŸ‘‹đŸ» Meet the Guru

Resource Guru is a market-leading product used by smart organisations around the world to master their team’s time. Customers include NASA, Ikea, Publicis, Accenture, Red Hat, KPMG, Pirelli, M&C Saatchi, VMware, Ogilvy, PwC, Virgin Media and the NHS. They all trust Resource Guru to handle one of their most precious assets - their people’s time.
We are a small, remote team with employees in the UK and Europe. This means you would be free to work from almost anywhere with a good internet connection and a 4-hour time overlap with GMT business hours. We live in Slack, have daily video standups and meet up occasionally to work together and celebrate achievements. See if this is the right place for you.

💡 In Brief

Our roadmap is long and many challenges lie ahead. This is where you come in. You’re an outstanding Product Designer with several years of relevant experience.
Unlike some companies, we believe that UX and UI design are separate disciplines. Each is involved in different aspects of a product, requiring slightly different thinking and skills but both must work in tandem to develop and deliver a successful product.
For us, UX design helps shape a product from scratch using customer research and business requirements which can often be complex, unclear and incomplete. It involves collaborating with product owners, creating elegant, usable designs including wireframes, clickable prototypes and specifications. Whereas UI design is more focused on transforming those deliverables into beautiful, responsive, cross-platform designs ready for implementation; ensuring that the product is useful, usable and delightful.
Wherever your strengths lie, we are keen to meet you if you’re a talented Product Designer.

đŸ§‘â€đŸ’» What You’ll Be Doing

  • This is very much a hands-on role so you need to love getting stuck in
  • You will drive the design, form and function of our app with help and feedback from other members of the team
  • Working particularly closely with the Product Manager and other Designers, you will use best-practice techniques to get your ideas across quickly and clearly
  • Customer research and feedback will form the foundations of your designs. You will be eager to validate your ideas with customers before the team invests time and energy in executing them
  • As we grow, you will play an active role in growing the design team
  • You will champion a customer-centered approach to design across the company
  • You will invest in design standards, documentation and processes to further our design practices
  • Your ultimate goal will be to create a joyful experience that customers love

🎯 What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience designing digital experiences for the web, mobile and other devices. Ideally, there will be some industry-leading, recognizable company names on your CV
  • Experience in agile environments and SaaS would also be ideal
  • You have a broad range of skills with strengths in interaction and visual product design, including prototyping and responsive design
  • You are comfortable with tools like Figma and preferably with a working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS/React and can create prototypes at various stages of fidelity
  • You have experience in creating and maintaining design systems
  • You love immersing yourself in problems—conducting customer and competitor research, sketching concepts, defining flows and building prototypes. You can do all this in a timely and efficient way with an acute awareness that tech companies live and die by how rapidly they can deliver for customers
  • You are passionate! Obsessed with great user experiences, you have your finger on the pulse of the latest web design techniques and best practices
  • You have well-formed opinions about what’s good and what’s not and are prepared to fight for great design
  • You have expertise in usability, web standards, accessibility and responsive design
  • You have a growth mindset and are hungry to learn and evolve in all areas - from leadership skills to design craft to process to making good use of market trends
  • You will have an understanding of what’s technically feasible along with a good sense of when convention should trump quirkiness
  • You will have strong experience in de-scoping features to achieve MVP releases followed by ongoing iterations and enhancement. You fully appreciate the connection between the speed of releases and the financial viability of the company
  • You are fluent in English and a great communicator

đŸ„ł We think this is a great place to work, but don't just take our word for it...
"Outside of team stand-ups and team meetings, I am trusted to manage my own workload and simply get on with it. Help and guidance is there if and when needed. This level of trust and autonomy means I have been able to do some of the best work of my life and really help build a great product."
- Paul, QA Lead

"It's really easy to do great work when the codebase is clean, well organized and when there are actively maintained tests. This allows you to move confidently without worrying about breaking things. It gets easier when you know what's expected of you and you get all the right feedback and support.
All this while being given autonomy to explore your own ideas and do it the best way. Joining Resource Guru has by far exceeded my expectations."
