We are looking for a senior human resources professional with a track record in supporting the global growth of remotely operating tech startups/scaleups. 

You will be instrumental in helping us grow the PlantingSpace team in accordance with local employment requirements across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, and along our unique work culture.

PlantingSpace is a technology startup with the goal of building a system capable of understanding knowledge, to answer questions and get things done. To pursue this goal, we leverage emerging scientific fields such as category theory, probabilistic programming, and cognitive science. Our product vision is to create virtual analysts capable of performing research, computation, and providing analysis across several domains.

While the company is registered in Switzerland, our team works fully remotely, currently across 13 countries. We meet every three months for one week in an inspiring location in Europe, to get together and solve challenging problems. The ideal person for this role is intellectually curious, highly analytical, has leadership drive, and an eagerness to shape ‘employment of the future’ for sophisticated tech professionals. You have a keen appreciation for law and are used to working with high profile law firms and local payroll accountants. You understand the strategic importance of your role and you are experienced in reporting directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing, and setup new, employment and contracting relationships across Europe, Americas, and Asia, in collaboration with local legal counsel and payroll providers

  • Maintain and further develop our relationships with employment law and payroll professionals 

  • Work with the two Founders to reflect the team culture in policies and agreements, and introduce well-researched cutting edge HR practices 

  • Work with Founders, Finance, and Recruiting teams to further improve our global compensation benchmarks; continuously improve performance management and reward structures

  • Oversee the employee lifecycle, from recruiting, onboarding, administration, to termination; work with Recruiting, Finance, and Admin teams to ensure a well-rounded process

  • Report directly to the Founders and Co-CEOs in an adequate communication style; work with the whole organisation to put policies in practice and surface issues proactively

Qualifications & Experience

  • Native German & professional English language skills

  • 5 years experience in HR in an international setting (ideally in tech startups/scaleups), 1+ years in a leadership position

  • MSc or equivalent in business, with a degree/specialisation in HR (e.g., CIPD or equivalent)

  • Significant experience with employment law and payroll accounting (either a legal background, or significant working experience with legal professionals and accountants)

  • Track record in establishing international employment and contracting relationships

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, experience with compensation negotiations and termination discussions 

  • Highly analytical and experienced with C-suite communication

We seek for this role a German native speaker with residence in Germany or Switzerland, with significant international experience as a senior HR professional. Successful candidates will be required to submit credentials and references from past engagements.
