Senior Data Engineer (Analytics Team)

Our Analytics Team is responsible for crunching the numbers and powering all of ChartMogul's metrics. SQL is our dear friend as we are always looking to write new queries or improve the performance of existing ones. We are a team of 5 backend developers working in 2-week iterations. We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong relational database design and query performance optimization expertise. Exposure to modern data warehouses is a big plus. Working with us would allow you to get full responsibility for producing metrics that give powerful insights to SaaS businesses.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will
  • Build and enhance our Python application that talks to a data warehouse for metrics
  • Take a front seat in our decision-making on evolving our Analytics service using columnar databases and other transformation tools that fit the purpose
  • Build new ingestion pipelines from raw data and reduce our dependence on relational databases
  • Review and improve our relational database schemas and data storage strategies
  • Add, improve and maintain performance of analytical SQL queries run on postgres database
  • Support junior engineers through high-quality, scalable engineering designs and helpful code reviews
  • Contribute to technology strategy, enhancement and maintenance of business logic on our main Ruby on Rails application

While this is a remote position, we are only able to consider candidates who are based in the EU.

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years experience in SQL analytical functions and data processing
  • Operational experience with relational databases and/or any SQL based data warehouses e.g Snowflake, Redshift
  • Demonstrable experience with Ruby and/or Python, or willing to learn Ruby and Rails
  • Pragmatic approach to software development; how to structure programs and decompose problems, apply patterns, and select the right paradigm for a task
  • Strong passion and emphasis for code quality and quality testing
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to understand and translate business requirements into technology solutions
  • Collaborative and eager mindset to tackle challenges and contribute to design and architecture decisions

What we offer

  • Our salary guideline for this role is in the range of 70,000 - 90,000 EUR / year, which is set according to our annual Berlin-based market research. Final offers are adjusted depending on experience & location
