Job Description:
ECS Federal is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Technical Writer roles.This role is remote; however, the government may request in-person support to attend meetings at the CDC offices located in Atlanta, GA.

The Technical Writer will deliver client-facing consulting services in support of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and their mission to put public health science into action through IT innovation and modernization.As a member of the ECS team, you will help the Digital Services Office (DSO) within OCIO drive enterprise modernization through the selection and adoption of modern technology solutions to improve public health mission enablement and operational efficiency, as well as a safer, more secure, and better workplace for all CDC staff.DSO priorities may include topics such as infusion of innovative technologies, platform-centric architectures, cloud infrastructure, cyber security, and advanced analytics capabilities.

In this role, you will provide technical writing support services to the portfolio of programs and projects. Tasks may include:

  • Write and edit technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
  • Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
  • Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
  • Consult relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.
As a team member, you will be expected to:
  • Identify and address DSO client needs.
  • Build solid relationships with clients.
  • Communicate with the client in an organized and knowledgeable manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members.
  • Provide general consultant support to include project management tasks, meeting facilitation, and ad hoc duties as needed.
Required Skills:
  • Experience handling multiple tasks, changing priorities, and timely action.
  • Experience writing, editing, and packaging reports, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidance, project and ad hoc deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Experience facilitating meetings and capturing minutes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to CDC offices in Atlanta, GA as requested by the client.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and no less than one year of proven experience providing technical writing services in support of projects or organizations.
Desired Skills:
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience supporting CDC or other federal health agencies (NIH, FDA, VA).
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile Scrum.
  • Knowledge of Health and Human Services (HHS) Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC) and CDC’s Unified Process (UP).
