Role:

BASILISK is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager and Copywriter to join our growing team.

To succeed in our mission, we must create inclusive spaces that make scientific thinking accessible. Our social media directly informs the culture of our community.

As a Social Media Manager, you will be the engine behind our social media channels, generating statistically impactful content ideas and driving them to completion. You will work closely with the Head of Social Media, design teams, and engagement management to create and boost on-mission content.

The ideal candidate has the passion to improve the world and the maturity to embrace process to do it. They want challenge, responsibility, and highly professional colleagues.

They are a digital native with an intuitive understanding of online interactions. They are smart enough to be savage on socials and principled enough never to be. They are experienced and understand that clever content is more difficult and more rewarding than drama.

Responsibilities:

• Write! You will be the first pen on almost everything that goes out the door, from highlight reels and merch descriptions to well-reasoned replies to fans.
• Support end-to-end social media management, from campaign intake and creative process to asset production, approvals, moderation, and reporting.
• Collaborate with internal and external creative staff, maintaining rigorous quality standards for our content.
• Work with external partners to develop campaigns that create value for partners while staying true to our mission and fans.
• Work directly with our pro gamers and creators to generate content ideas.
• Prep campaigns and assets ahead of time to reduce gameday burden. Also, get out content on tight deadlines as esports and social media are LIVE events.
• Stay current on gaming and Science trends and conduct competitive research to ensure our voice is relevant, impactful, and additive to the communities we are a part of.
• Be the voice of our fans and communities internally, advising of trends, opportunities, and landmines.
• Recommend tactics to meet our growth targets and constantly look for new growth opportunities and efficiencies for our content.
• Grow. You will be responsible for ongoing professional development with the help of your mentors.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in social media, content, or digital marketing.
• Native or equivalent English fluency, additional languages a plus.
• You do not need to be an English/Physics double major, but you must command the pen and be fascinated by Science or science fiction.
• Understanding of engagement metrics and a proven record of hitting growth targets.
• On-brand social media copywriting experience.
• The ability to give creative feedback efficiently and in a way that can be heard.
• Ability to flourish in a remote working environment and also throw down at periodic live events.
• Understanding, respect, and love for games.

Nice to have experience:

• Science communication.
• Social media monitoring, analysis, and toolsets.
• Working directly with creators, pro gamers, and academics.
• Existing personal networks in gaming and Science.
• Adobe Suite, Final Cut/DaVinci Resolve.
