About The Role
Our UCD Specialist will contribute to the VA’s telehealth and scheduling efforts by a designing a modernized interface that supports Veterans and the appointment scheduling process.
We are seeking experienced, user-centered UI/UX Designers to join our fast-growing team and serve as UCD (User-Centered Design) Specialists throughout the product design and development process. For this fully remote role, we're looking for team members who bring at least 5 years of practical/on the job experience with software application design to include user research and usability testing. Qualified candidates must have the ability to solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity, while referring more complex issues to higher levels, knowledge of current design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as knowledge of wireframe tools, including Wireframe.cc, or InVision. The perfect candidate would be experienced in clinical user interfaces, accessibility, and interface design.
Our UCD Specialists should have in depth knowledge of software development and working with a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. The candidate should also possess strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Serve as the user’s advocate throughout the product design and development process while applying basic principles, theories, and concepts.
- Evaluate and collect user requirements to solve problems as it relates to clinical user interfaces, accessibility, and interface design.
- Collaboration with multi-discipline team members, a variety of users, and stakeholders within an agile development environment.
- Conduct user research and usability testing
- Conduct user research and perform usability testing to produce software that meets users’ expectations and requirements.
- Create user-centered designs through the production of wireframes, graphics and other visual, interactive elements.
- Have a BA/BS Degree in Design or Computer Science or related field
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
- Proficient in UI/UX design, with a minimum of five (5) years of on the job experience
- Proficient with wireframe tools, including Wireframe.cc, or InVision
- Proficient with current design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience providing critical user-centric insight that informs product strategy
- Experience with Clinical User Interfaces is a plus
- Solid understanding of the agile software development cycle and processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US government Public Trust clearance
