The Staff Writer writes articles for the ONS Voice monthly magazine, posts them to ONS’s and ONS Voice websites, and coordinates the ONS Voice electronic newsletters. Drafts creating writing marketing materials. Assists ONS teams including Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) with writing and editing. Produces and distributes ONS podcast episodes and other audiovisual media as assigned.
This is a REMOTE (work-from-home) position. Occasional travel to the Pittsburgh, PA office may be required.
Responsibilities- Writes print and website/email content for ONS Voice and other publications as assigned.
- Posts and distributes content.
- Maintains the ONS Voice website.
- Updates URLs and other content
- Assists with the publication’s design and layout.
- Writes about events, products, and members’ work and submits it to ONS’s integrated marketing and communications (IMC) team.
- Assists IMC coordinators write content for marketing campaigns and editing their work.
- Assists ONS teams and volunteer leaders write and edit assignments on current events and late-breaking news.
- Produces and distributes ONS podcast episodes and other audiovisual media as assigned.
- Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, email marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot), and social media platforms.
- Working knowledge of audio production, sound engineering, and Podcast best practices.
- Strong knowledge of grammar, proofreading, writing, and editing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills including answering questions from customers or the business community.
- Ability to write reports, press releases, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific journals, health policy, financial reports, and technical information.
- Knowledge of website content management systems, HTML, or other languages preferred.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing, or a related area of study.
- 0-2 years of experience developing marketing/social media communications and/or writing content, SEO/SEM, or email marketing
- Experience with video production and graphic design preferred.

Pay Range
Oncology Nursing Society uses a market-based approach to pay. Pay rates are established considering the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified periodically based on market analysis.
Anticipated Pay Range: $39,930 - $46,419 annually.
