The Role
We are hiring our first product designer to define & drive the future of design at Kailua Labs. As an early member of the team you will have the opportunity to take ownership over several areas of the product:
- Our customer facing app, designing & shipping interactions facilitating onboarding, interacting with our APIs via UIs, analytics, and more.
- Inspiring our customers to what new search experiences can be built with our technology. This includes concepting & prototyping new experiences, designing use cases & demos for existing features and exploring what the future of search interfaces look like.
- Building and expanding our existing brand to build a product that is well known, recognizable and loved by developers.
- You'll be joining as one of the earliest team members & will be critical to helping the team iterate and develop a product our customers love. This role is a great fit if you like moving quickly, can work across the stack when necessary and want a seat at the table making decisions about the future of the product & technology. The ideal candidate takes ownership over things and is excited to grow into a leadership position as the company and team grow in the future.

- 5+ years experience as a product designer.
- You have some basic affinity or interest in machine learning & developer tools. Bonus points if you've worked on search, ML or developer tooling products.
- You have a meticulous attention to detail and a love for delighting customers with your designs.
- Experience building design systems, showcasing systematic thinking and building scalable design components.
- Experience communicating ideas in written and visual format, and justifying how your designs improve the experience for our customers.
- Experience applying research & data to design and interaction decisions.
- You have demonstrated ability to quickly deliver project results in previous work (e.g. joined new team and shipped feature XYZ in 3 months)
- Live/work in U.S. time zone, minimum is PST+-3hrs. We have an office in San Francisco, but remote work is also available.
