Senior UI/UX & Brand Designer

Othersphere
  • $60.000 - $80.000
  • fullTime
  • Posted : 11 months ago

Othersphere identifies the most profitable and sustainable locations for deployment of zero / low GHG industrial technologies, with initial focus on hydrogen. Our software platform tightly integrates energy systems models and geospatial analytics to enable:
  • Faster deployment of more beneficial projects
  • Democratized access to critical market insights
  • Reduced long-term GHG emissions trajectories

Our early development funding and support was provided by Breakthrough Energy and Google for Startups, and we have recently closed an equity investment round with participation from leading climate-focused investors. We are currently in closed beta mode, with product launch planned for late 2023. Right now we are operating with a limited public profile, but are happy to provide further information on team, strategy, and mission during the application process.

Othersphere is incorporated as a Benefit Company, and we seek candidates with a personal commitment to fairness, humility, curiosity, and passion for positive impact—values that are central to our mission. We are committed to representation and inclusion, and we welcome applicants with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Othersphere is seeking a senior UI/UX and brand designer to help build out our web app, also shaping our brand design and marketing collateral. In particular you will:
  • Work closely with our Chief Product Officer (based out of Germany), and product team, to distill their vision into designs, also challenging them based on your previous design experience
  • Produce high-fidelity designs and attach them to tickets for front-end developers to build from, engaging with the development team about the designs to answer their questions and incorporate their feedback
  • Directly engage with beta testing participants and future customers, along with the rest of the team, to understand their needs and usage patterns
  • Shape our broader brand design, working on the broader company website, marketing materials, and other brand collateral
  • Bring fresh perspectives from B2C / gaming industry, challenging our current assumptions in delivering a genuinely enjoyable user experience

You'll report to Othersphere’s CPO, but work closely and collaboratively with the CEO, CTO, growing team, and network of advisors to bring our technology directly to our users, leveraging your creativity and experience to help shape the direction of our product.

Our responsibilities

We seek to build and maintain an exciting and inclusive working culture where you feel safe expressing who you are, making you feel valued and respected, and giving you an opportunity to thrive and build a product you can be proud of.

In addition to this, we will provide:
  • Freedom to make decisions on branding, designs, tools, and features, as long as they are reasonable and match our goals and direction
  • The tools you need to get the job done, including licenses for tools and existing component libraries and design system collateral
  • A friendly development team who will work with you to get your designs into production rapidly and often
  • Availability from everyone on the team to answer questions and help get you un-blocked as quickly as possible
  • Regular feedback to help you grow in your role as quickly as possible, and a team of colleagues always open to hearing your feedback and insights

Compensation and benefits

Othersphere provides competitive compensation and company equity commensurate with experience, and an excellent benefits package. For this role, the expected salary range is $90,000-$110,000 Canadian dollars, or the local equivalent (e.g. €63,000-€75,000 in Europe).

We are a remote-first organization headquartered in British Columbia, Canada, with a growing presence in Europe. But irrespective of team locations we are actively working to foster team cohesion and personal connection through annual company retreats and regular in-person get-togethers.
