About The Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our user engagement focused product team, Bravo. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner, have good technical foundations, and be a driven, resourceful, and systematic team player. The team is building foundational tooling and processes to better understand user behavior on Niche and guide them through their college search. This position will collaborate closely with other members of a cross functional product team including Product Management, Back-End Engineering, QA Engineering, Design, and Product Analytics.
What You Will Do
During the 1st Month:
- Learn about Niche by meeting with various team members to learn more about our company through our Onboarding meetings
- Shadow other engineers on your product team to learn more about our tech stack, the products we support, and our development process
- Attend company-wide onboarding sessions to better understand our internal processes and learn about the company
Within 3 Months:
- Begin shipping user-facing code that will be seen by millions of people
- Start contributing to the agile development process, collaborating with other engineers to break down and implement new features
Within 6 Months:
- Grow as a contributing member of a product team, providing input and insight to the rest of the team on challenges and feasibility of proposed development
- Participate in code reviews and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to other engineers
Within 12 Months:
- Confidently implement new functionality and fix bugs across a variety of Front End projects
- Begin identifying areas for improvement in our codebase, researching best practices, and making recommendations to the team on strategies to address them
- Solidify understanding of the breadth of our tech stack, including the capabilities of our back end services, how they interact with our user-facing applications, and how we validate and deploy new functionality to our production infrastructure
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional web or mobile development
- Experience with modern TypeScript/JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
- Proficiency with at least one Javascript framework for building user interfaces, such as React
- Adaptable to rapidly changing frameworks and technologies
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written

Compensation
Our national target base salary range is $86,000-$108,000, plus participation in our Annual Bonus and Stock Option Program. Base compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills.
