The Web Developer will work to support the work of the Digital Solutions team within the Office of Enterprise Solutions. This position will focus on low code web application development and platform enhancements, as well as support other Digital Solutions services that support the LCPS community. The Web Developer will work with the team to drive the overall delivery of new and enhanced applications through all phases of the agile development lifecycle. A successful candidate is excited to learn emerging technologies, works well others to collaborate on new solutions, demonstrates excellent attention to detail and is an effective communicator.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:
- Collaborates with industry/business subject area professionals, web developers, and technical leadership as part of a dynamic, distributed, and fast-paced project team to design and build elegant, high-impact business applications.
- Works both independently and with a team, following an agile software development cycle, using industry-leading vendor technologies.
- Develops and/or configures solutions following established timelines, application development standards and established processes.
- Participates in design sessions with cross-functional teams to define business process flow, UI/UX design, data definition, security and user authentication.
- Participates in story estimation/prioritization, sprint planning and review meetings.
- Supports sprint demonstrations of new functionality to client stakeholders.
- Performs peer reviews on other team member’s deliverables.
- Supports new development and maintenance to existing applications and break fixes.
- Attends and contributes to daily calls and scrum meetings.
Qualifications
Below are the qualifications for this position:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, Information Management, or another quantitative discipline with specialization from an accredited college or university
- Experience with system implementations along with a basic understanding of key concepts related to Agile Development Cycle, Information Security, and Digital Transformation adoption
- Experience or familiarity with enterprise software development, or related technical field; Integration and automation of services (testing and deployment) preferred, but not required
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud platform is preferred
- Understanding of containers, microservices and API management
- Low code/no code application configuration/development experience. Experience with the OutSystems platform preferred
- Experience with high code programming languages a plus - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, C# and/or other programming languages preferred
- Full-Stack web application development experience
- User Interface (UI) design knowledge

- Demonstrated ability and eagerness to learn new technical skills quickly

Employees who are non-exempt and are teleworking will work their required scheduled hours and gain approval from their supervisor if they work more than 8 hours a day or more than 40 hours in a workweek. Teleworking privileges can be amended, changed, or revoked based upon the performance of the employee, as well as the needs of Loudoun County Public Schools.
