At OraSure we believe remarkable talent, enthusiasm, and creative thinking add up to great work. We’re looking for someone with excellent writing skills to be our full-time, copywriter. As a member of the marketing team, the copywriter will write and edit content for a variety of projects (including print, web, mobile, video, and social media), working closely with the strategic marketing, design teams, and digital marketing team to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and articulate messaging. The most successful candidate will be a quick learner who has a versatile writing style to accommodate a variety of customer targets with differing needs, goals and objectives.

The Marketing copy writer is responsible for developing accurate and engaging content to support the promotion of our products across a variety of marketing formats (email, tradeshows, advertising, web content collateral materials, etc) and internal/external customer targets (sales, public health, HCPs, E&I, TPA’s, etc). Specific responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of the market, the products and their positioning, and the objectives of the business to develop key messaging to be consistently incorporated in a variety of formats with the express goals of driving deeper awareness and relationships with customers and prospects by reinforcing the differentiating value proposition of our products. Content will be used in a variety of formats including social media posts, emails, infographics, website features, and other formats.

Snapshot of Responsibilities:

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
  • Raise the bar continually for writing fresh copy that connects with a desired audience and drives action
  • Be adept at varying the voice, style, and other characteristics of messaging based on the product and/or target audience
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communications- and client-related industry trends
  • Applies appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistent messaging
  • Interpret creative briefs to develop concepts for execution with assigned brands
  • Develop deep understanding of products assigned and their customer use cases to optimize approach and effectively communicate to each segment based on customer personas, needs and interests.
  • Write original copy for a range of marketing and communications materials including emails, collateral, web content, social media posts and other forms
  • Collaborating with content specialist to incorporate key scientific content into easily understood and compelling marketing messaging
  • Build a robust pipeline of relevant content, linked to overall business strategy
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, product managers, scientific affairs and sales teams to identify and fill gaps in content throughout the customer experience while positioning our products/services to solve market problems
  • Engage with the marketing, sales and product management teams to clearly understand perceived positioning of our and competitive products to ensure appropriate messaging is reflected in content
  • Leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the content that educates customers
  • Develop editorial calendar, spear-head content review process and ensure deadlines are met
  • Ensure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, tone of voice and quality
  • Coordinate required internal review and approval of all content according to policy WI-00025
  • Collaborate with customer experience team to ensure timely deployment and metrics tracking as appropriate for the specific content
  • Conduct periodic competitive content audits
  • Expected travel <10% (e.g., for in-person tradeshows/conference attendance, in-office meetings, etc.)
  • Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal team
  • Revise copy based on internal feedback gathered through review and approval process

  • What You Bring:

    • 3-5 years experience in a copy writing role with exceptional writing skills
    • Exceptional writing skills
    • Ability to work independently or with a team to meet deadlines
    • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability
    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline
    • The ability to understand scientific content and convey basic concepts and principles via written communications
    • Competent in writing compelling stories for nurturing and marketing campaigns
    • Knowledge of digital marketing to ensure appropriate content for SEO
    • Driven by a passion for storytelling, marketing, and social media
    • Always the first to be aware of the latest trends in relevant fields
    • Demonstrated high level of creativity, attention to detail and project management skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage projects with many moving parts
    • Editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it
