The Role
If you love helping organizations become more data-driven, ad hoc and deep dive data analysis, and teaching others about how to use data – all in the name of earning and retaining more customers at every step of the customer lifecycle– then you’ll be a great fit for this role.
This position will report directly to the COO and will have people management responsibility for the data team, which currently consists of a full-time business intelligence analyst and a two-person outsourced data engineering team.
This role is designed for an experienced business intelligence manager and requires a variety of skills and competencies. You’ll be responsible for owning our data platform (Sisense + Segment + Redshift), ensuring data is readily available for consumption across the team.
Measures of success include being the resident expert on the entire customer journey; moving the organization up the levels of data maturity; and being the in-house instructor for using data to make decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establish strategic priorities for the data team in conjunction with the COO
- Take a servant leadership approach to managing the data team for performance and coaching for potential
- Be the resident Sisense (Periscope) and Segment expert
- Encourage, educate and support the entire ConvertKit team with using data to make decisions, tell stories, and better understand our customers
- Build dashboards and reports for the ongoing analysis and monitoring of financial metrics, product usage data, and the creator journey
- Support the ongoing analysis of business performance required to inform product development, marketing, and customer experience decisions on a day-to-day basis
- Uncover insights about the business and our customers that are not obvious from intuition or surface-level observation
- Take ownership of moving the company up the data maturity model (we’re currently between stages two and three)
Requirements
The right person for this position will have:
- Enthusiasm and belief in the ConvertKit mission, vision, and values
- Enthusiasm for and personal connection to the creator community
- At least 5 years of work experience in business intelligence, data analytics, bizops, consulting or a similar data-driven business analytics role*
- At least 2 years of work experience as a people manager*
- Expert level command of SQL and experience using visualization tools (e.g. Sisense, Amplitude, Tableau) on large data sets to extract trends and insights
- Expertise in quantitative analysis and logical reasoning
- Hands-on experience conducting customer segmentation, cohort performance, and product funnel analyses prefered
- A passion for the iterative process required to find new business opportunities through data
- Familiarity with SaaS KPIs and recurring revenue metrics
- Strong communication skills in the form of storytelling, writing, presenting, and teaching
- A commitment to practicing radical candor -- the practice of delivering direct feedback from a place of personal care
- A genuine desire to build meaningful relationships within the ConvertKit team, including the ability to lean into constructive conflict that leads to great ideas and positive outcomes
- Comfort in working as part of a remote team

Salary
ConvertKit has standardized salaries based on position, no matter where you live. For this role, we’re hiring at our level 3 ($127,500) or level 4 ($155,000). Level is determined based on experience and our interview process.
