About Us
Circle is building the all-in-one community platform for creators and brands: think "Shopify for creator/brand-led communities". We make it really easy to bring people, discussions, live streams, content, events and payments together — all in one place, all under a personalized brand.
In November 2021, Circle raised $25M (Series A) to accelerate the way we help creators and brands interact with their customers, their partners, and their community.
Circle is a 100% remote company! We now have a team of about 95 (and growing) based in over 30 countries around the world.
About the role
Data plays a key role in how we operate and make decisions. As the Data Lead at Circle, you’ll build the team that turns our data into actionable insights that employees across the company rely on to monitor trends, set goals, and make decisions. Your work will make us smarter, more efficient, and will help us grow the business.
We have a preference for candidates in AMER and EMEA time zones.
What you'll be doing...
Reporting to our Head of RevOps, we’d look to you to lead, develop, and mentor our data team, currently consisting of two data analysts.
Collaborate with leadership from across the company, including marketing, sales, customer success, finance, support, and product to gain a deep understanding how data is used at Circle today, and how we can make it even more useful in the years to come.
Take ownership of our data stack, which currently includes dbt, Fivetran, and Looker. You’ll maintain the long-term roadmap for our data infrastructure and make sure it can grow alongside the company, ensuring a high level of data accuracy and trust.
Build and manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, which includes collection, transformation, analysis, and recommendations to inform go-to-market, product strategy, and performance across the organization.
Evaluate and implement new tools and processes to expand Circle’s data capabilities.
Prioritize and assist with data initiatives, data requests and communicate analyses to stakeholders.
Initially spend roughly 90% of your time on individual contributor/technical/analysis work and 10% on strategy work, but gradually spend a larger % of your time on the latter.
You're perfect for the role if...
You are currently leading a data team at Series A+ startup.
You’re comfortable being hands-on with data analytics, and leading a team of data analysts. You are extremely proficient with SQL, spreadsheets, and BI tools.
You’re comfortable building and operating a complex data pipeline. Ideally, this means you’re already experienced with tools like dbt, Fivetran, and Looker.
You’re eager to mentor and coach the people on your team to accomplish great things, and help them evolve to the next stage in their careers. You understand the value of direct, transparent, respectful feedback and know that it’s a gift your teammates can use to grow and develop their super powers.
You are extremely thoughtful when it comes to growing the Data team, and work actively to identify your team’s growth areas.
You can manage competing priorities well — between large, in-depth projects and ad hoc requests to support the business day-to-day. You lean in to having difficult conversations with people to resolve a situation and do what is right.
You are an outstanding communicator, both verbally and in writing. You default to non-defensive listening and believe in leading with humility and vulnerability. You naturally build excellent relationships with your team and peers.
You live in a time zone that would give you at least 4 hours of overlap each day with the U.S. Eastern time zone.
