SUMMARY OF POSITION Pixelberry Studios is looking for three interns for a narrative project run by the StoryLoom R&D team called Season of Love, a Regency-themed world, to help prove out collaborative production content. Working closely with veteran interactive fiction writers and editors as mentors, R&D Creative Interns will create experimental narrative and social media content based on retention and growth that ties into the Season of Love property in StoryLoom. At the end of the twelve-week internship, interns will have a polished story published on our platform StoryLoom that they can use for their resume and portfolio that demonstrates their ability to pitch a concept, receive and incorporate feedback, analyze and act on data, work collaboratively with writers and mentors; in short developing a good foundation on skills required to be an effective interactive fiction writer. Please note this is for current students (College/University or Graduate program) or recent grads from the last few months. Our headquarters are in Los Altos, CA but we can accommodate a remote work environment for a candidate from the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington. Currently, all Pixelberry staff work remotely with the option to work in-office, if desired. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a pitch and summary for a story based off Season of Love world prompts
- Write the full story based off the pitch and summary by both working alone and collaborating with other writers
- Give and incorporate writing feedback from mentors and other team members
- Publish the full story on the StoryLoom platform
- Monitor the performance of the story and make weekly reports to submit to their mentors
- Support the running of a writing workshop by soliciting writers, managing writing topics and lines of communication with other writers, creating promotional materials, and populating workshop resources
- Give a final presentation to the StoryLoom team at the end of their internship on their project and their learnings REQUIREMENTS Must-Haves
- A strong grasp of fiction writing and the English language
- Excellent editorial skills
- Ability to receive and apply critique and feedback on their work
- Ability to deliver polished work in a timely manner

- Currently in school studying Writing (English/Lit, Fiction, Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, etc.), Media Studies (film, stage, TV), or Social Media Studies
- Passion for Regency-themed media and/or writing MATERIALS REQUESTED In order for your application to be considered, you must provide:

- Two short writing samples of no more than 2000 words (part of a short story, script, or piece of game writing. If you have a interactive fiction writing sample, that would be preferred)

Compensation Description for Pay Transparency (hourly) The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $18/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. Where an individual’s pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
