Oasis Engineering & Technology has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. This position will support the sustainment of the Base and Installation Security System (BISS). and the Tactical Automated Security System (TASS). BISS and TASS are intrusion detection and surveillance systems used for security monitoring around both fixed-site airbases, semi-permanent Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) and mobile tactical deployments. LOCATION: Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX JOB STATUS: Full Time TRAVEL: None REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills) SECURITY CLEARANCE: Active Top Secret. U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants EDUCATION: BA/BA CERTIFICATIONS: N/A EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 10-15 years experience, 3-5 within the DOD OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Technical writing experience within the DoD required
Experience relative to USAF command, control, communication, intelligence, and networking desired
Excellent writing skills and strong command of the English language, including grammar
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work well with other organizations and personnel with disparate backgrounds
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently and within a team
Experience in MS Office - including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare original papers, articles, or reports based on research, interviews with experts and program officials, and observation of or participation in tests and experiments
Prepare manuals for training in or guidance on the operation or maintenance of technical equipments and systems, or specifications for the development or purchase of such equipment and systems.
Apply knowledge of the language and methods used in BISS/TASS to understand and work with technical information
Typical Work Assignments Involve
Obtaining, analyzing and selecting the pertinent information
Determining the most logical sequence of the narrative
Determining the overall length and tone based on the objectives, medium and audience
Writing the material
Consulting on and/or selecting the illustrative material
Preparing the material for publication
Writing technical direction on product announcements, marketing brochures, advertisements, and marketing specifications
Meet with customer representatives, vendors, system engineers and program managers to establish technical specifications
Study drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples
Create user documentation for a variety of material, including how-to guides and instruction manuals
Prepare charts, graphs, or forms to go along with rough drafts
Ensure consistency of working among multiple documents
Create table of contents and cite sources
Submit copies to to managers for feedback
Maintain electronic library for all assigned documents and final presentations
Provide updates and different additions as necessary Who We Are
