About the role
As part of the newly formed Burnsall Analytics Team, you will play a leading role in identifying opportunities to grow our revenue and improve our profitability through data analysis, process automation, and cross-functional projects. Reporting into the Finance Director, you will gain a deep understanding of our business, our partners, and our service. You will own and manage projects end-to-end, from analyzing data to generating insights to implementing improvements to our processes and services.
We are a small business that is always changing and rapidly growing. This creates the opportunity to gain broad exposure to the whole business, by engaging with and contributing to analytics projects not just within Finance but also outside the primary scope of your role.
What you will be doing:
Research and Exploration - Identifying new opportunities to generate value
- Conduct detailed research into new product categories and industries
- Web-based company research to identify potential partners
- Determine KPIs for upstreaming deals and success criteria for potential partners
- Support build of business cases for new Upstreaming partnerships
- Support project lead on visits to potential partners to assess suitability and identify opportunities to create value
Data management and Analysis – Creating actionable insights
- Create business reporting and dashboards to help colleagues & clients monitor business performance and make data-driven decisions to improve KPIs
- Optimize reporting functionality to fit business requirements
- Develop and standardize reporting and analyses that help us solve commercial problems
- Perform ad-hoc analysis on vendors and deals and recommend actions based on data insights
- Communicate results and recommendations clearly to colleagues and clients
- Own relationships with vendor partners and other third parties, build trust, and enable data-driven decision-making.
Continuous improvement projects with our vendor partners
- Evaluate value adding opportunities for existing and new partnerships through vendor and deal specific reports, analysis of workflows and value chains
- Identify and lead the delivery of automation initiatives that reduce complexity and scale as the business grows
- Support documentation and version control of standard processes
- Support colleagues and client in the analysis and delivery of continuous improvement projects
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge and interested in improving retail supply chains
- At least 2 years of experience in business analysis, consulting, e-commerce, or a related field
- Strong SQL proficiency accompanied by good statistical acumen
- Experience with Amazon QuickSight or any visualization tool is a plus
- Familiarity with automation techniques and a scripting language such as Python is a nice to have; a willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge and understanding of key performance indicators related to finance, supply chain, and manufacturing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to identify patterns in data and develop insights
- Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
- High sense of ownership and a strong bias for action
