• Use Eagle or other electronic design automation (EDA) software to design printed circuit boards (PCBs) for manufacturing and assembly by partners
• Create and refine bills of materials (BoMs), evaluating alternative part numbers on functionality and price, presenting options to the team for discussion when appropriate
• Hand solder small numbers of prototypes to enable rapid iteration
• Manage relationships and projects with contract manufacturers, ensuring rapid troubleshooting to avoid delays in production timelines
• Collaborate with industrial designers on enclosures

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience designing PCBs for production use that have been manufactured at scale (at least 100) and delivered to customers
• Fluency with Eagle or other EDA software packages
• Outstanding written and spoken communication skills

Nice to Have

None of the following skills are required, but they might make you a stronger candidate. For this role in particular, since PCB design work comes in waves, we’re looking for a flexible and creative colleague who can bring unexpected perspectives and expertise for those times when there’s no EE work on deck.

• Experience with BLE
• Firmware development skills in C/C++
• Antenna design expertise
• Experience with 3D printing and modeling software
• Relationships with manufacturing partners
• Experience writing technical documentation
• Social media management or other marketing skills

• User research/ethnography/interviewing skills
