VEED is one of the most popular online video editors out there to tell stories, create content, grow audiences, and more. We’ve grown faster than we could’ve ever imagined since 2018 and creating world-class content has been key to achieving this.
The Growth Marketing team at VEED is looking to hire a full-time editor to work closely alongside our Head of Content and eventually help manage relationships with writers and contributors as well. We currently work with a team of about 10 to 15 freelance writers and are looking to scale the quality of new content along with blog maintenance.
Our blog has gone from 3K to 56K visitors in just eight months and will soon reach 100K. With the help of a great editor, we believe we can not only hit 500K traffic but also build your personal brand alongside the impressive work you'd be doing here at VEED.
Our goal in the interview process is to find the right person who not only loves content but also:
- Has a strong understanding of SEO
- Demonstrates an ability to make creative data-informed decisions
- Incredible attention to detail and super organized (the blog has so many moving parts)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with the team and provide feedback to writers. Google ‘radical candor’ to understand our feedback style
Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit content
- Has an instinct for recognizing patterns, organizing ideas, and knowing how to support different writers.
- Able to reorganize a document to achieve clarity and momentum plus recognize what’s missing
- When/if the situation arises, the editor demonstrates a willingness to question assumptions, theories, and facts
- Design the contents of publications based on the company’s publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing specifications.
- Coordinate with designers, writers, contributors, and anyone else involved in the production of an article
- Recommend and produce headline ideas to attract our target audience as well as assist with meta titles and descriptions
- Research and verify facts, dates, and statistics
- Supports blog maintenance every 6 months or so by helping update blog content if needed
- Assist Head of Content with keeping our content calendar and content shared drive updated
Requirements
- Strong understanding of SEO
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Several years of experience in a similar role. The amount of years however is not the most important–we’re looking at the quality of your work and a strong understanding of what makes great blogs.
- Great communication skills, creative thinking, and analytical thinking
- Familiar with tools like Ahrefs in order to support the production of well-researched content outlines
- You have a portfolio of work writing and editing content for reputable blogs (preferably in the SaaS space)
- Able to support with the outlining of content and work with Head of Content to arrive on the final product
- If you're interested in this role, tell me what your favorite book or movie is in the first sentence of your cover letter
- Ideally, you have no more than a 6 hour time difference with our Head of Content (based in the San Francisco PST time zone) but we might be able to be flexible on this for the right candidate.
Paid Test Assignment for Final Candidates
For the 3 to 5 final candidates we might issue a paid assignment to help us reach a confident decision so both you and our team can feel secure in knowing we’ve made the right decision. Every potential editor would receive the same assignment in order to be judged equally.
