Position Description
We are seeking a talented copywriter/editor to join the content and community team at XPRIZE. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative, dynamic, and thoughtful writer who is capable of working with short and long-form content that engages and informs the XPRIZE community.

The copywriter will frequently partner and collaborate with fellow marketing team staff and internal stakeholders to craft internal and external marketing materials. To that end, the scope of work will be exciting and varied; the candidate will develop, write, and edit copy for websites, social media content, newsletters, sell sheets, blogs, annual reports, articles, and more.

The candidate will uphold the brand voice and tone with a demonstrated versatility to tailor copy to different XPRIZE audiences. The individual will brainstorm ideas around marketing campaigns, prizes, and initiatives, developing impactful, clear, and creative content that resonates. A strong interest and experience with creating content that aligns with XPRIZE domains is a plus.

As this role will work closely across numerous departments in the foundation and at different levels, the candidate will also be an excellent communicator and nimble project manager, who delivers quality content consistently and manages to deadlines. A self-starter attitude and sharp marketing acumen will also be key to this role.

This position reports to the Director of Content & Community.

  • Be responsible for upholding brand positioning, voice, and tone to ensure that XPRIZE content uses clear, consistent, and compelling language across internal and external marketing materials
  • Write in short- and long-form, for a variety of both digital and print formats
  • Leverage foundation project management tools to ensure that all written assignments are organized
  • Implement and drive a rigorous editing and proofreading process for all brand communications
  • Drive and ensure that fact-checking best practices are implemented across all content
  • Translate foundation-generated research, reports, scientific data, and journals into engaging, digestible content that resonates with XPRIZE target audiences
  • Understand how to effectively communicate across different XPRIZE audiences, and the nuances required for each of them, leveraging data insights where available to refine impactful copy.
  • Collaborate with staff across content, design, integrated marketing, and events to execute effective internal and external marketing materials of the highest quality
  • Partner with the advancement team and Director of Marketing, Advancement and Impact on sponsor-facing materials, donor communications, fundraising campaigns, and other projects as needed
  • Partner with marketing staff to create impactful copy that helps to amplify brand milestones, initiatives, and campaigns
  • Collaborate with team members on a variety of creative brainstorming and strategic marketing initiatives
  • Attend weekly standup and team meetings
  • Perform other job duties as needed
  • Bachelors in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field or comparable years of experience
  • 6+ years of agency and/or in-house experience in copywriting
  • A writer who has demonstrated success in writing across key channels including, short and long-form writing for marketing campaigns, but also for longer-form writing for engagement on owned channels.
  • A strategic thinker who will iterate, evolve, and think ahead about how to continuously uplevel the quality of work and the brand
  • Impeccable proofreading skills, grammar, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent editing, writing, reporting, and story development skills
  • A team player who communicates openly and proactively with team members
  • Highly skilled in managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and Impeccable work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiar with the international and US media landscape
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for the XPRIZE brand, your XPRIZE team, and the content you create
The anticipated base salary for this position is $80k to $100k and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
