The role:
As a Copywriter at Retrospect, your job will be to create and apply communication, content and verbal identity across our digital platforms and marketing channels. You will collaborate on defining target audiences, developing ownable storytelling that will drive business impact and shape how consumers connect to our client brands.
You will also work closely with Design, Strategy, and Marketing on content outlines, web/UX copy, and editorial strategy while building cohesive copy playbooks. Whether it's for our client partners or for the Retrospect brand itself, you will be our go-to wordsmith across all things written and will champion how language is critical to brand success.
What you'll do:
- Create boundary-pushing verbal systems and messaging applications rooted in strategy in partnership with the design team
- Produce strategic creative solutions, develop concepts, and write copy for varying campaign concepts
- Use and expand your written word expertise across a wide range of styles and tactics
- Craft and present verbal work with strong conceptual thinking and strategic rationale
- Contribute to verbal brand guidelines for our partners to use
- Craft creative, compelling, and unique concepts as it relates to campaign strategy and the brand identity
Who we are looking for:
- 4-7+ years of experience working within a creative / design environment either within an agency, as a freelancer, or at an early-staged consumer start-up with an up-to-date portfolio to showcase
- Understanding of best practices when it comes to copywriting and messaging
- Ability to work with non-copywriters and provide instruction on how to navigate design tools
- Ability to create concepts and create visual assets with limited direction
- Strong communication skills with a growth and learning mindset
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to make thoughtful decisions while building culturally-nuanced solutions
- Attention to detail, great sense of design, and commitment to beautiful content and user experiences
- Experience with or ability to adapt to our internal technology tools: Asana, Figma, Google Workspace, Airtable, Greenhouse, etc
- Ability to work autonomously and someone who thrives in a "builder" environment
Nice to Have (but not required!):
- Motion or video editing skills a plus
- Interest in strategy, copywriting, or UI/UX concentrations
- A degree in marketing, operations, business, communications, or design
- A unique, non-traditional background within your career=

The annual base pay range for this role is between $70,000.00 and $85,000.00
