As a Designlab mentor (Career Services), you will work with amazing students from around the world; connect to other top designers; and earn money while giving back to the design community.
Designlab is hiring people with a background in Product Design and experience as hiring managers and /or recruiters in the design field to become Career Coaches. Using your experience hiring UX Designers you will mentor and guide our graduates as they seek their first roles as UX/UI and Product Designers. Join our team on a flexible, part-time basis to help us employ the next generation of people around the world transitioning into design-related roles.
As a Career Services Mentor, you’ll work 1:1 with designers to help them polish their resumes, navigate LinkedIn and ATS systems, practice their personal narratives and interview skills, and answer questions about companies, industries, salary negotiations, and more.
🎯 Mentor Responsibilities:
- Leave online feedback about your students' project work within 48 hrs
- Conduct 1:1 video sessions with your students (via Skype/Zoom/Hangouts etc.)
- Provide guidance on professional development
- Providing verbal and written guidance on writing resumes, cover letters, social media profiles, portfolio About me pages, business correspondence, networking, interviewing, and salary negotiationHelp students with any topics or issues they’re currently struggling with
- Helping students understand what jobs they may be the best fit for and the nuances of various industries and roles
- Motivating and encouraging students through the challenges of the job search process
🌈 Experience:
- 3+ years of UX/UI design experience and experience working as a hiring manager or leading interviews
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Passion for education, design, and creative work
