Bring history to life and inspire the next generation
Are you a history buff with an eye for accuracy? Do you have a passion for U.S. history and want to play a role in educating the next generation? Our Academic Product Creation team is seeking a detail-oriented U.S. History Content Editor contractor to ensure the quality and accessibility of our materials, while catching any errors and improving overall content. Your expertise in U.S. History and keen editorial skills will be invaluable as you work to level the playing field in education and make test preparation accessible to all students.
This is a 1099 contractor engagement and that is projected to involve 1-5 hours of contribution per week with more hours based on availability. As a U.S. History Content Editor contractor you will:
Review answer explanations for accuracy and soundness
Evaluate lesson content (including teacher dialogue, classroom activities, strategies, and scaffolded learning concepts) for both its accuracy and its accessibility to students
Catch inaccurate or unjustified historical content and flag it for review, as well as identify when the critical path to answering a question is not being utilized
Accurately report issues through a ticketing system or according to provided guidelines
Maintain quality and consistency of style in all produced content
Communicate regularly with the Managing Editor in regard to deadlines, feedback, and transparency on work progress

Requirements
A degree or teaching certification that proves mastery of U.S. History
Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, including a mastery of the English language, precise error identification and correction, and effective edit-tracking
In-depth knowledge of U.S. history and the interrelation of historical events
Able to quickly learn new technology and enforce detailed standards according to style guides
Proven ability to meet deadlines and consistently produce quality work with a prompt turnaround time of 1-2 calendar days
Proficient in essential tools, including Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat, and screen-capture/ recording software
Reliable internet connection
Test-prep experience, high standardized test scores, and an education background preferred

Compensation
This is a 1099 contract position. All contractors will be paid by assignment and only upon completion. Assignments are compensated at a rate of $30/hour by assignment completion.
