Astrohaus is a distributed team based in Royal Oak, Michigan, that creates consumer products at the intersection of design, art, productivity, and technology. Formed in 2014 around the breakout Freewrite Smart Typewriter, the company, led by designer and engineer Adam Leeb, will expand into new verticals in 2023.


Accolades: Freewrite products have won several awards and in 2021 the Smart Typewriter entered the Science Museum, London’s permanent Printing & Writing Collection, i.e. it became a literal piece of history. Job Role


Join Astrohaus as a part-time Staff Content Writer. In this role you will produce relevant content for the Freewrite brand, crafted to capture the attention of the audience and promote engagement.


You’ll be responsible for generating writing industry and Freewrite-related articles, email content, and posts for publication. Success in this position will be demonstrated by delivering high-quality content to increase brand engagement, appeal to our audiences, and boost brand awareness.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop original, compelling, and relevant content about writing, distraction-free drafting, and the writing industry, through interviews and research.
  • Write content for the Freewrite blog, emails, website, social media platforms, advertising, and more.
  • Help us launch and deliver a writing-themed newsletter filled with interesting stories and news, advice, and announcements, by writing main topical stories and collecting amusing tidbits around the internet.
  • Proofread brand content for errors and inconsistencies, while editing and polishing new and existing content to improve readability and clarity.
  • Stay up-to-date within the writing industry on news and trends.
  • Follow consistent brand writing style in all published materials.


Estimated at 20 hours per week


Requirements:


  • 1-3 years of relevant writing experience in designing and optimizing writing for branded websites, social media platforms, email marketing, and online advertising.
  • Demonstrable published articles portfolio and proven content writing or copywriting experience.
  • Deep understanding of writing styles and strong research and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written English skills, strong attention to detail, excellent editing and grammar skills.
  • Knowledge of current events within creative writing, journaling, screenwriting, and other writing industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or relevant field.

This position is remote, and you may work/telecommute from anywhere. US-based candidates are highly preferred.
