Position Description
Assigns numeric diagnostic codes in medical records for symptoms, diseases, operations and treatment. The coding is used in clinical decision making and insurance and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement.
This is a remote role.
- Accurately validate and abstract diagnosis codes from provider documentation in medical
- Analyze and translate medical and clinical diagnoses, procedures, injuries, or illnesses into designated numerical codes, adhering to the CMS Risk Adjustment Models.
- Follows state and federal regulations as well as internal policies and guidelines while analyzing coding information and medical records.
- Knowledgeable of medical and clinical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology.
- Assists with validation audits, evaluates medical record documentation and ensures documentation accurately reflects and supports relevant coding.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and overall quality and efficiency by utilizing strong working knowledge of coding standards.
- Complete assignments according to established guidelines and schedules.
- Mid-level support role.
- Completes routine tasks under minimal supervision.
- Typically requires at least 2 years of related experience.
Qualifications:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required
- Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years coding experience
- 1-3 years of Medicare Risk Adjustment Experience
- ICD-10-CM proficient
Travel Requirements:
- All Pulse 8 employees attend two company summits per year in various locations.
Working Arrangements:
- Monday through Friday or as defined by assignment requirements
