Reports To: Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

Location: Remote, US and Canada

Salary Range: US $130,400 - $160,000

Summary of Team

The Global Marketing and Communications (GMC) department includes the marketing, communications, editorial, design, social media, and creative operations teams. The GMC department is a group of creative, strategic marketers and communicators who help meet Catalyst’s mission of advancing women through workplace inclusion by expanding the organization’s audience, shaping and amplifying its brand, and elevating its thought leadership. We help Catalyst Supporters and the public engage with Catalyst’s research, products, and services on their journey to create more inclusive workplace cultures.

Summary of Responsibilities

Catalyst is looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for creating engaging content that drives meaningful change.

As Catalyst scales and grows to advance its mission of creating workplaces that work for women, we are looking for a Vice President of Content Strategy and Creative Services who will lead and oversee the development and execution of the organization's creative strategy and execution across all channels. This leader’s responsibilities will include developing and implementing creative concepts and campaigns that reach new audiences, engage existing corporate supporters and elevate the Catalyst brand as a DEI thought leader. The VP will lead, inspire, and mentor a team of creative professionals, including writers, designers, and producers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring to life the important work of Catalyst, its mission, thought leadership, DEI solutions, and stories of impact.

The VP will have a wealth of digital content, multimedia, brand storytelling, design, and communications expertise including business-to-business and business-to-consumer communications. Partnering effectively with the VP of Marketing, VP of Communications, and cross functional stakeholders will be essential. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer as part of the Global Marketing and Communications department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements a plan to innovate content creation and delivery, exploring novel and improved methods, structures, and platforms to efficiently engage Catalyst's priority audiences to reach new audiences and engage existing supporters.
  • Monitors and evaluates the competitive environment and emerging patterns in imaginative storytelling, conceptualization, and design of digital, multimedia and print media, social media, digital content generation, and technology, to ensure Catalyst’s mission, market research, DEI product offerings and live and virtual events are effective, market competitive and consistent with the brand identity.
  • Manages creative services team including editorial, writing, art directing and graphic design and multimedia.
  • Responsible for managing agency and vendor relationships, including design freelancers, videographers, photographers and multimedia production and content vendors, negotiating contracts as needed.
  • Develops and executes content strategies and plans to support implementation of the marketing strategy and go to market plans, in close collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Develops creative briefs for brand and product marketing plans and exercises strategic and creative leadership on highly visible campaigns and programs.
  • Lead the writing and editorial team to establish and maintain a consistent brand voice and style across all content channels.
  • Leads and innovates the creation, packaging, production, and publishing of market research and thought leadership content and solutions, in collaboration with the Research team and cross functional partners.
  • Leads creation of high-quality and engaging assets and materials for Catalyst Supporters and Corporate Engagement, Solutions and Event teams.
  • Expands Catalysts capabilities and establishes best practices in video production, podcasts, audio storytelling, live-streaming and other forms of digital communications.
  • Creates content for the website, microsites, landing pages etc., and other digital platforms in close collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Ensures excellent editorial quality across all content from newsletters to blogs, reports, marketing collateral, emails, speeches and video storytelling.
  • Translate our organizational strategy into actionable brand campaigns, content and experiences to hit our strategic and revenue goals in the short and long term.
  • Shape the future of content marketing, pushing content ideas to be modern, distinct, multi-channel and aligned to supporter insights and personas.
  • Invests in essential team routines that produce a healthy and inclusive culture, including performance management, professional development, succession plan, Quarterly Business Reviews, celebrations and team bonding.
  • Analyze user engagement data to measure the effectiveness of content and make recommendations for improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding and ability to apply design principles; strong concepting ability as well as layout and typographic skills.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of where and how people interact with media, including at work, home, on the go, mobile, broadcast, print, event, etc.
  • Collaborating well with others, demonstrated by partnering with other creatives to successfully brainstorm and concept ideas.
  • Highly analytical with a deep understanding of data – how to assess and analyze data sources, data outcomes and apply that understanding to agile campaign strategies.
  • A highly motivated, hands-on professional with a personal reputation for integrity and ethics

  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy and creation, including 5+ years leading creative teams (writers, editors, graphic designers, multimedia professionals), in marketing/creative agencies, corporate or non-profit settings.
  • Extensive digital and multi-platform content experience (including but not limited to social media, video, advertising, podcasts, interactive, streaming, newsletters, blogs and other forms of digital content). Understanding of creative landscape— and how users engage with content across platforms.
  • A proven leader with demonstrated ability to innovate content and creative development to effectively engage target audiences.
  • Successful track record of developing content for creative campaigns, including brand building, lead generation and supporter/customer engagement.
  • Experience creating content and collateral for use by corporate audiences and business development.
  • Strong ability to create stories that connect with both the mind and heart.
  • Strong understanding of SEO and content optimization strategies.
  • Ability to translate thought leadership, data, and insights into accessible and engaging content that breaks through and inspires action.
